Ever since I was a child, I traveled every other year to Perú to visit my family who immigrated there from Italy during the war. We would spend our summer vacations there, immersed in the culture, cuisine and language. In my case, it was truly a fusion between these three cultures that I feel make me unique: Italian, American, and Peruvian. These cultural backgrounds have been constant influences in my life—a gift I would like to pass on to my children as well.

The Unico brand was born from my loves of fashion and Perú. Each piece is handcrafted using a variety of techniques and materials, making each piece “unique” in it´s own way. Some of the materials include: wool, denim, felt, wood, straw, velvet, coconut, tagua (seed), and asaí (seed). The products are produced by talented Peruvian artisans from diverse regions of the country spanning from Lima to Ayacucho to Cajamarca to Cusco.

 

 

 

 

The Unico brand is exemplified through colorful bursts of flowers and represents the peaceful and unique beauty of nature. Artists have painted them, poets have written of them and lovers have exchanged them. Since the beginning of time flowers have represented the start and end of the life-cycle and their fragrance and color always brings a sense of freshness and beauty into our lives.
